At the centre is the question of why people can be convinced they have understood something after a learning phase, yet still feel uncertain when they have to apply it. This is not primarily about exam performance, but about the moment when knowledge has to be used under real conditions.

Technical systems are planned, operated and developed by people. Relevant factors include experience, uncertainty, responsibility, time pressure, cognitive load, feedback, confidence and the handling of complexity.

Digital learning formats can make knowledge accessible. What remains open is under which conditions this leads to genuine professional capability and reliable action.

Cybersecurity as an application context

Cybersecurity is not just another keyword. It is a particularly demanding context for decisions under uncertainty, time pressure, responsibility and high complexity — which makes it well suited for studying action reliability and human factors in realistic technical situations.
